Mission Statement
At the Roberta Flack School of Music, children who demonstrate a strong interest in studying music are educated and encouraged to master fundamental principles of music, and in turn are taught to read, and write music. They are taught to listen to and to really "hear" music. In addition, given the exposure to these elements, there is an opportunity to utilize music as a means of augmenting a strong academic education. The program is designed to enable the school's administrators and teachers to recognize and foster the development of music skills of children who are especially gifted.

The Hyde Foundation's primary philosophy is that each individual student is gifted with a unique potential that defines a destiny. With many years of experience operating a successful public charter school in the Washington DC area, Hyde Leadership Charter School in the Bronx will offer its students a character-based curriculum that stresses a student-parent-teacher partnership, a family-school bond and rigorous academics aimed at laying the foundation for each student's success in college and fulfillment in life.
